Organisation

TNSJA is a non-profit institution governed by High Court, Madras. The Academy is funded by Tamil Nadu Government and was set up on 23 April, 2001 in Judicial Quarters at A2 block, Egmore.

Tamil Nadu began imparting Induction Training to Judicial Officers in the year 1997. With State of the Art facilities, the Academy provides formalised dynamic training which includes theoretical and practical exposure to equip the judicial officers.

Foundation Stone for the present building was laid on 10.2.2002 by Hon’ble Justice B.N. Kripal, Judge, Supreme Court of India and was inaugurated on 25.7.2004 by the then Hon’ble Chief Justice of India Justice R.C.Lahoti.

The yearlong Induction Training of Judicial Officers prioritizes the significance of a fair, efficient, accessible and transparent Judicial system. TNSJA facilitates upskilling all kinds of judicial officers and law Enforcement agencies in the State. It often conducts various programmes /conferences and workshops to hone the skills of Judges in administration of Justice.

Executive Structure

Board of Governors is the managing body of TNSJA and consists of six Hon’ble High Court Judges with the Hon’ble Chief Justice of Madras High Court as its Patron-in-Chief. The senior most member of the Board of Governors is designated as its President. The Board of Governors directs the Academy’s strategic vision and formulates and monitors the fulfilment of Academy’s mission. The Director, Additional Director, Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors of the academy who are Judicial Officers on Special Duty carry out regular affairs of the Academy at the direction of Hon’ble Board of Governors.
